District by District, Downtown L.A. is going through a rebirth, with the Arts District at the height of its renaissance. What started as an artists' colony in the 70s has emerged as a hotbed for creators from all arenas, making it one of the city's most exciting neighborhoods. Located just east of Little Tokyo and just west of the L.A. River, many think the zone earned its street cred with the Broad Museum opening in 2015. Now the district is a full-blown destination with a vibrant mix of art and grit.
